Today, I am giving stuff away.
For no other reason than I have it, I don’t need it, and someone else might like it.
I thought about doing it for the 400th blog follower, or the 2500th Twitter follower etc, but I when I thought about it, I didn’t feel that comfortable with it-I want people to read and follow the blog because they like it, and they enjoy it, not because they think they might get a bag full of goodies.
So it’s for no special reason. Or Just Because (a phrase I promised myself I would never say to my children, but now find myself saying about 400 times a day, in answer to just some of the “Whys”)
The rules are as follows:
- Leave a comment it you want it
- If there is more than one person clamouring for this wonderful prize, then I will put the names in a hat and ask
an impartial observerone of the Smalls to pick a name - Then I will contact you for your address and post it
- PS. A very kind person pointed out that perhaps I might like to limit this Giveaway to mainland UK residents only, as they lived in Oz and thought that the postage might bankrupt me. Very wise. UK mainland it is folks, sorry.
- Simples!
And now the bit you are waiting for….
The prize!
I blogged a little while ago about my trip up to London for the Observer Ethical Awards, and mentioned the fact that there were great big Goody Bags, and that I agonised for about 3 seconds regarding the ethics of accepting Goody Bags when Buying Nothing New. Well, I got home, and had a good rummage around, and there were some bits that may have found their way into daily use (one of these Ohyo collapsible water bottles for example-sorry! Oh,and I ate the Jelly Beans on the train on the way home. Sorry again.), there remains a lot of ‘stuff’ that I really don’t need, including:
- some Pukka peppermint & licorice tea
- a sachet of Cafe Direct gourmet organic, fairtrade ground coffee
- 100g bar of Divine Dark Chocolate with Chilli and Orange
- Some sample bottle of toiletries
- A necklace from the People Tree
- A copy of Richard Branson’s Screw Business as Usual (I may have read this first…)
- Anything else I can find that I think you might like…
I am aware that this is not the most amazing Giveaway in the world, but it might mean that the stuff goes to someone who really wants it.
So you are more than welcome to it if you want it!
Just thinking – you may want to limit the countries that people enter from. I’m from AU, and the postage cost would be horrific! Me, I’d love the book, I love all books!
Good point, hadn’t thought of that! Will add a note to the bottom of the post-thankyou!
What a lovely goody bag! I’d love to have this if you’re not going to be using it. I’m partial to tea, chocolate and anything that comes in mini size, so yes please! Thank you and keeping my fingers crossed! 🙂
Your name is on the list Katrine!
Hi Jen,I think it is great what you are doing and I read your blog every night. It is especially good as having met you at toddlers last year with your smalls.
Hello! *waves*
Which toddlers Ann-maria? We go to quite a few!
Ooo, I would like this please! Happy to pay for the postage if I win and/or share the goody bag. Am just starting my thrifty plan for the rest of the year so the toiletries and the necklace would be very useful indeed! X
I’ll put your name in the hat Cheryl!
What is your thrifty plan? Sounds great!
Throwing my hat into the ring, as it were. Coffee and chocolate don’t last long in this house, and I’m always keen to try out new herbal teas in my classes (I teach pregnancy yoga). The necklace is a mystery, but I have a fair few clothes from People Tree already.
Will add your name Sarah!
Jen, how kind of you to give it all away! Especially chocolate! I don’t want to be included in the give away but wanted to let you know us regulars as still here and following. Have a great weekend all of you, look forward to the next instalment.
Thanks Hilary. We had the most lovely week away, and the sun is shining 🙂
Hope all is good with you!
Have just started a pre-holiday diet so chocs out, but I would love a new necklace, or toiletries, or the book…….You are very kind and noble to even think of sharing. I have your posts delivered to my inbox, and I do find you to be inspiring and thought provoking. Thanks for making a difference by living life on your own terms and sharing it!
Thankyou so much for your very kind words! Name is in the hat 🙂
I was very envious when I read that you had got your hands on one of those celebrity type “goody bags” and now your sharing, you are too kind!
I would like to put my hand up for the prize draw please. It was our wedding anniversary 2/7 and my birthday 7/7. Do I sound desperate enough?! There are some lovely treats in there we could both enjoy! 😀 P.S keep up the good work. Sorry is that too suck up? I mean it though even if I don’t win the prize. 😉
Thankyou!
Your name is in the hat 🙂

Noted!
Hi jen
I’d love to put myself forward for tea, Chocs and mini toiletries. Sound like ideal pick me ups for a busy mum. …….. I’ve been following on Twitter since boot-gate months ago. Hopefully you’ve got some lovely sandals for this great weather. Best wishes
Julie
Hi Julie
Thanks for following!
I am Making Do with some summer shoes that are about 8 years old, and the sole is just starting to come away now! Hoping they will last out the Summer..!
Hi Jen
I’d love to be considered. I wouldn’t normally dream of asking but, due to circumstances beyond my control (disability, unable to work and my benefit being dropped to £71 per week for the last year) I’d be really grateful to be included in the draw. I’ve been following for quite some time now as (no surprise here when you consider how far my £71 has to go…rent, gas, electric etc) I have to make do and mend on a daily basis. Thanks for the offer…very kind. Good luck to everyone x
Sorry to hear you are having a tough time Katrina 😦
What a wonderful idea to share your goody bag! Anything would be appreciated…a bit of a treat is always welcome! It’s so nice to hear you being so unselfish, you are setting your small people a wonderful example. Enjoy the final part of your make do and mend year.
Thanks Sue!
This is such a lovely prize – would make my summer to win it! Love the blog, been doing my best to make do & mend, which is pretty necessary as a student! You’ve been an inspiration fingers crossed!
Thankyou Marina, that’s really kind. Glad to hear that students are Making Do and Mending too!
It’s a lovely giveaway :0) RichardBisa bit of an idol of mine, I love the toiletries as anything mini is instantly cute and chilli chocolate combines my two favourite things!
I’ll add your name!
Going to need to find a bigger hat…!
What a nice idea! I would love to win the toiletries. I never buy fancy ones… too much risk involved, since Small#5 loves to dump them in her bubble bath. But I bet I could use these up before she gets to them!
If you’re super quick Carrie. Or hide them..!
You’re so kind to giveaway the giveaway you received. Smiles!
No problem 🙂
Ooh ooh ooh I so looooove tea with licorice in it! This looks like a fabulous giveaway (how generous are you!), please put my name in the hat. :o)
It’s in Jo 🙂
I’d love this giveaway, right up my street! I’d love to get into the ethical fashion world one day, but at the moment I’m a in-house sewer (in my bungalow)! Love upcycling and make do and mending! Your more generous than me, I would have eaten and drank most of it by now!
I like the phrase “in-house sewer”-conjures up images of sewing for a boutique fashion label, rather than just in the spare room!
Will add your name 🙂
I can actually think of other people I could share these with! My MIL would love the tea, hubby would love the chocolate. Smellies, me and my daughter. Sharing is good (hint hint) 😉
Sharing is indeed good! Will pop your name in!
Did I miss it?? Darn it if I did!! If th giveaway is still on I wouldn’t mind ‘the Anything else you can think of that I might like’!!!
Fantastic blog and love reading about your year, well done!
Thankyou so much, very kind.
No, you haven’t missed it. Will add your name!
Love your blog. Trying to follow your example. Very inspirational. Em
Thankyou 🙂
You do all know you don’t have to say nice things for me to put your names in the hat..?!
Hello – a newcomer to to your blog, so feel a bit naughty jumping straight in.. but there is Divine chocolate involved thus all moral dilemmas are officially null and void.
Indeed they are. It’s dog eat dog when there’s chocolate involved..!
Name is in.
And thanks for stopping by 🙂
Hi
Please can you add me in too. I’m a school librarian so that book would probably find its way into my “business” section if I were picked. And my son would nab the chocolate because he is a fan of all things chilli. And chocolate too. Thank you!
Your the last one in!
Will draw tomorrow and announce the winner!
Wow I was surprised how many people are vying for it – certainly positive! I’m in AU, so I’m out anyhow, but that’s ok!
