Another party…

The whirl that is the social life of a pre-schooler continues apace, with no heed for Christmas and the like, so last weekend saw us at another party (it really is all go..), which meant, you  guessed it, another present…

I know I’ve said it before, but I’m going to say it again (my blog, my rules!), I find it really difficult buying present’s for children’s parties. I know that sounds really mean, it’s not meant to at all. It doesn’t mean I don’t love the little darlings. But quite often, you don’t really know them that well, or what they like, and you don’t want to end up spending a fortune. Or you forget, and grab something last minute in the supermarket. And it gets played with for about 5 minutes, before joining the legions of other ‘stuff’ that all our Small people seem to have amassed.

Rant over, sorry. Back to business.

I found this lovely tutorial for a cute little tote bag to carry a colouring book and some crayons on the great site {lbg studio}.

This was their version:

And this is mine:

You can barely tell the difference can you..?!

The bag is made from some plain fabric I inherited from my Nana, and the pretty floral fabric is a 1970’s duvet set (I think from M&S-lots of people seem to recognise it when they see it!) I picked up in a charity shop.

As I couldn’t go and buy a colouring book, I downloaded some colouring pages from the fab resource that is The Activity Village, printed them off, cut them to size and then tied them together with some wool.

And for colouring pencils/crayons, I managed to track some down at the Scrapstore.

The whole thing probably took me just over an hour, which isn’t bad. And it is a unique handcrafted present. And I saved myself £10 on some awful tat that will be probably only be played with once.

🙂

  1. Brilliant, I reckon you should make a few more and keep them for future parties – knowing you have a stash of them will mean its a bit less stressful come party time. :o) Merry Christmas btw. :o)
