Style Yourself #Secondhandfirst

I had an e-mail the other day from the lovely people at TRAID-a charity working to stop clothes being thrown away. They have stores across London, and run some great events, including clothing repair and upcycling.
The e-mail was asking if I would like to join them for their event next week (Thursday 19th) at their Dalston store-called Style Yourself #Secondhandfirst.
It looks like a fabulous event, but living in Wiltshire and having two small people, I’m not able to attend, so I promised to give them a ‘shout out’ in a blog post instead!

The event is actually a competition, and you can win yourself a bike from Bikeworks-a great not for profit bike shop.
All you have to do is turn up on the night, and using the clothes provided by TRAID, style yourself a fabulous outfit, before having your photo taken by a professional fashion photographer!
If you are like me, and not sure that your sense of style will quite cut the mustard, then worry not, the brilliant TRAID stylists will be on hand to assist 🙂

All the photos will be uploaded by TRAID onto their social media, and followers will be invited to vote for their favourite. The photo with the most votes will be the winner!

Simples!

So if you are anywhere near Dalston, get yourself down to TRAID, and support their work, and help promote secondhand chic!
If you’re not anywhere near Dalston, you can still help to spread the word about TRAID, and about the awesomeness of wearing secondhand, by pledging to source a percentage of your wardrobe secondhand.

  1. Wow.. what a fantastic opportunity and a great organisation.

I have been buying secondhand for years… did not know it was a movement until I came across your fabulous Facebook group! I shall pledge my allegiance straight away! Thanks!
