At 8.30pm this evening, we will be turning out the lights, and hunkering down, for Earth Hour.
To quote Wikipedia: “Earth Hour is a worldwide event organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature and held towards the end of March annually, encouraging households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour to raise awareness about the need to take action on climate change”
Since it’s inaugural event in Sydney, Australia in 2007, it has grown to become a truly global event, with landmarks like Sydney Harbour Bridge, Time Square, and our very own Buckingham Palace and Big Ben, all switching off for the hour.
The great landmark that is our house, will also be joining in. We will be turning off the lights, and the TV, and the computer, cooking with our Wonderbag, and possibly lighting the candles for a sneaky game of Scrabble (we know how to party).
If the Great Energy Race wasn’t enough incentive to power down for a night or two, then this certainly is!
Fancy joining us?
