Another day, another party….

Last week, I alluded to the fact that my children have a far more exciting social life than me, and that we had not one, but two birthday parties coming up..

This is what I made for the first one-where the birthday party was for a little boy, who was turning the ripe old age of 4.

And this weekend, it was the turn of a little girl called Lily, who will also be 4.

Once again I had turned to the kind and wise people in social media land, and as usual was rewarded with some great suggestions.

In the end, I went with a suggestion from the very lovely Louise, of Dress a Girl Around the World fame, to make a hair grip tidy, and I followed this most excellent tutorial on her gorgeous blog Sew Scrumptious!

And to kill two birds with one stone, I thought I would make this my #PinaddictsChallenge entry for March too!

So, this is what I was aiming for:

I followed the tutorial (which is very easy to follow, thanks Lou!) pretty much as it was except:

• I sewed the birthday girl’s name on the front
• I didn’t have any pretty ribbon long enough, so I made some bias binding from the same material as the appliqued letters (I do how-to on bias binding and letter sewing on here)
• I (hubby) put a popper on the end so the Lily can put her hairbands on the loop at the end

I’m really chuffed with it!

I proudly showed hubby and his initial response was “what is it?” (good job we have boys I think…) and then when I told him he said “oh, it’s really cool. You will have to explain to them what it is though..”
